How to Increase Laptop Performance | 9 Secret tips

We have all witnessed our computers getting slower with passage of time. It’s a matter of concern how we can increase laptop performance.  Below are some of actions you can take to increase your laptop performance.

Limit Startup Tasks and Programs.

A lot of programs and utilities are designed in a way to start automatically with windows boot, some programs are designed to open in background so you never know they are active and consuming your resources. But there is a reason behind this behavior and that is to reduce the amount of time these services/software takes to start. So when user click on them they open instantly. This is beneficial for software/servers you regularly use but for services that are used rarely they will affect your systems boot time.

Fortunately it is fairly easy to stop these services at startup. On windows 10 go to setting>apps and chose startup tab, this will list all startup programs and you can turn on and off.

Uninstall Unused Apps

As we use our laptops we tend to install more and more software which is fine but do you always need them? Or there are some software that are installed for free when we are installing a new software these can increase load on your processor and RAM.

To clear all unwanted software go to

Start>setting>apps and features this will list all the installed apps so you can uninstall all that is not needed.

Remove Malware

just like unwanted software malware can also go undetected and you would not have a clue. When you click an unknown email or download software that you don’t know the source you have high chance of getting malware.

Use Disk Cleanup

Disk cleanup is a program on windows that removes unused files and programs from your computer. This is a great method to get your laptop rid of those software/files which other ways you would never knew existed.

To perform Disk Cleanup:

Type Disk cleanup in search box

Chose driver to do the disk cleanup

Click ok so process begins

Once your laptop gets scanned, the program will show you a list with all the files and the amount of disc space you have left. Click on all the boxes located to the left-hand of the files and select Clean Up System Files.

Microsoft’s disk clean-up process can take between a few seconds to a couple of hours depending on the number of files stored on your hard drive and how often you clean it.

Improve Laptop Cooling

When your laptop is working it generates heat specially the processor laptops have a range of safe temperature in which they can operate. If you feel your laptop is making a lot of sounds and you physically feel your laptop getting hotter there is an issue. It can be due to a faulty cooling fan that cant provide enough ventilation or that your fan is covered In dust. You will need to clean your laptop with the help of a blower.

There are some other options you can use like external cooing pads which are placed under your laptop to assist in cooling process.

Reinstall Windows

Reinstalling windows is like hitting a reset button, it will clear all unwanted data/malwares from your laptop. It will give you a fresh system. Windows have an option of installing operating system and keeping all you data intact. So you don’t have the risk of losing anything. You can implement these tricks to make your laptop fast.

Add More RAM

If you have done all the above but still your laptop lack performance you need  to increase your RAM capacity. When we work on our laptop services and files are copied to ram and processor. If you have low RAM you would not have enough memory to do multiple tasks at once. So increasing it would be something that you will not regret.

Use SSD Hard rive

Hard drive plays an important role in computer performance because that is where all the data is store. So retrieving it faster means better performance for your laptop. Conventional HDDs use disk to store memory and the dis spins at a pre-defined rate. When you want to read data from it the disk will need to rotate, so the correct location gets aligned with the pin. On the other hand if you are using SSD you don’t have any mechanical pats so every action is really fast. Fast data retrieval means better computer performance. It’s a matter of concern how we can increase laptop performance.
